A heart at peace gives life to the body

Hello! How are you coping with lockdown? We had an update on the situation and things have changed but nothings changed at the same time. However we keep going don’t we even if we are living the real Truman show.  I felt that God has put on my heart to write about peace. But Gods peace not the worlds peace. Peace defined by the Cambridge dictionary is defined as: “freedom from war and violence, especially when people live and work together happily without disagreements” Now there is truth in this statement but Gods peace is different.

New Living Translation
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

If you look closely at this passage Gods peace exceeds anything we can understand. That is because it is not of this world but from our father in heaven -hence a supernatural peace. We won’t always understand everything and we’ll have to be ok with that. The peace of God guards our heart from anxiety, worry, stress and much more. The peace of God protects and shields our mind to debilitating and stress induced thoughts. Wow that is amazing! His peace is to protect us and shield us as we live in Christ.

How do we experience this peace? It is by worshipping, reading the bible being thankful and entering into his presence. Meditating on the word allows it to sink into your soul and mind and change things. Gratitude allows us to see things from a different perspective. Peace gives us the clarity to see which way to go instead of drowning in our own feelings and thoughts. Peace gives us the rest and the strength to move forward without being held back by our exhaustion. When the world/news/circumstances demand feelings of anxiety remember that God is able and powerful enough to sort anything out.

Proverbs 14:30 “a heart at peace gives life to the body”

A heart full of Gods peace will restore our health and bring life. The heart plays a huge part to this peace, Jesus said that what we speak comes out of the heart. Speak faith over fear, hope over hopelessness and encouragement over uncertainty. We were not made to be a nervous wreck going form stress to stress to being poorly and exhausted. We were made to be more than conquerors and enjoy this life that Christ died to give us.

The Hebrew word Shalom means: peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility. So lets start entering into his presence and experience the fullness of this wonderful peace. Because I think we need it now more than ever.

New Living Translation
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
