July is finally here! There has been much going on over June, and what I really enjoy writing on this blog is sharing what God is saying to me, showing me and revealing to me. And I felt the need to share about God’s love and how it is transforming me and how it can transform you. Gods word is packed full transforming and life giving words. If you imagine these wonderful treasures as seeds, they get planted by declaration and watered by your affirming of them and the soul just starts to bloom.
In todays culture and especially in the western world beauty has a particular look and often ourself worth comes from appearances.
There are adverts, social media posts, magazines etc that are shouting what girls and women should look like and beauty expectations to meet. There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, nothing wrong with looking nice. However the problem starts when the negative thoughts start, when you start criticising yourself and comparing. “Comparison is the thief of joy” Theodore Roosevelt. I grew up in the 2000s when beauty was over-plucked eyebrows, layers of lipgloss and changing your foundation to three shades deeper than your own skin colour. Hair was scraped back with so much hairspray you practically came with a “highly flammable” warning attached 😂
They have now been replaced with over shaped eyebrows, huge exaggerated lips and a how to guide to change your bone structure with contouring. However our self worth does not come from appearance it comes from knowing our identity in Christ. You could have a beautiful face but a mean and cold heart, you get the idea.
I wish when I was growing up I knew about how God saw me and felt about me. I wish I had those seeds, it would have helped me so much. However I’m just starting to grasp it at 30 and I’m really looking forward to seeing it transform my life more and yours.
So lets start looking at some declarations that you can say over yourself. Some are biblical and some are just good, wholesome, positive words.
“ I am God’s masterpiece” Ephesians 2:10
“ I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14
“ I have called you by name, you are mine” Isaiah 43:1
“ I am a son/daughter of the most high” 2 Corinthians 6:18
“ I am created in Gods image” Genesis 1:27
“ I am a new creation” 2 Corinthians 5:17
“ I am beautiful”
“ I am strong”
“I am valuable”
“I am loved”
“I am courageous”
“I am adored”
Now, if you want to see these seeds grow in your life you start by declaring it, even if you feel silly when you start, keep going. And just as it is important as speaking it over yourself, you now have to start by putting negative, critical thoughts away. They are not of God and not helpful.
Proverbs 18:21 says “ The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” what you say over other people is important too. Saying negative things over people will not build them up and not build you up too. I would rather eat good fruit rather than gone off, mouldy fruit.
Proverbs 16:24 says “Pleasant words are like honey, sweetness to the soul and health to the body” think of that, words can give health to you and other people. Think about how you feel when you receive a compliment, and how dragged down you feel over bad words. Changing your thought patterns will ultimately change everything. “Transformed by the renewing of your mind” as it says in Romans 12:2 means staying close to Gods word and what he says about you will transform you.
Another thing to do is simply ask God how he sees you and write it down. Also I have heard of people writing down declarations and putting it in their pillowcase, so when they are sleeping they are sleeping on these beautiful words. It is getting deep into their souls.
When you start seriously seeing and seeking how God sees you and how much he loves you, you will start to hold yourself a little higher, see your self differently and love other people better too. God loves you so much, he loves everything about you. He knows how many hairs are on you’re head, the number of freckles, your love of chocolate and the dimples on your face. He made you, he created you and he is very happy with his work.
He doesn’t want you to look in the mirror and hate what you see or wonder why you don’t look like the model on Pinterest. He wants you to see yourself How he sees you. Which is : valuable, loved, one of a kind, adored, a conqueror, a beautiful creation made by the amazing creator, special and unique and so much more! Delve into these declarations with the one who made you.
